Seeking Summer 2027 SWE Internships
I am Lohitashwa Madhan, a third-year Software Engineering Co-op student at McMaster University, graduating in 2028. My interests lie in full-stack development, backend engineering, AI-powered applications, and real-time systems. I enjoy turning ambitious ideas into working products and building software that creates real value for users.
Through multiple hackathon participations, I have built and shipped full-stack projects under intense 24-hour deadlines. From integrating AI APIs and developing backend services with Node.js to designing game systems in Java, I enjoy tackling challenging problems and creating solutions that are both practical and impactful.
I am currently seeking Summer 2027 co-op and internship opportunities in full-stack development, backend engineering, or product-focused software engineering roles where I can contribute, learn, and grow as a developer.

Emergency coordinators had no way to track help requests and safe zones as a disaster unfolds in real time. GeoShield solves this with live-synced missions and zone monitoring across every connected responder.
Engineered the real-time sync layer using Node.js, Express, and Socket.io to keep every dashboard instantly updated.

Terminal-based games rarely track a player's history or reward repeat play the way modern apps do. WorDex brings persistent stats and a global leaderboard to a classic Wordle clone, built entirely in C.
Built the authentication and file I/O system to persist scores and rankings across sessions.

Workplace hazards often go unnoticed until it's too late, and manual safety reviews are too slow to help. SafeGuard scans workplace images with AI to identify risks and instantly rank real hazard severity.
Engineered the Gemini API integration to generate prioritized, actionable safety recommendations in seconds.

Simulating a competitive board game AI opponent requires balancing strategy with fair play under real constraints. Catan brings Settlers to life with trading, resource management, and Robber mechanics in a full simulator.
Designed the rule-based AI agent in Java to make intelligent, real-time strategic decisions.

Sports replays feel flat without a rivalry to root for and no real banter to bring the drama. RivalRefs pits two AI commentators against each other in a live roast-battle over the 2022 World Cup Final.
Directed the post-hackathon migration to a free-tier Gemini and Web Speech pipeline, eliminating all API costs.

Expecting and nursing mothers can't easily tell if a product is safe to use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Expecta scans a barcode or ingredient list and returns a stage-specific Safe, Caution, or Avoid verdict.
Directed the AI-assisted build, defining the safety-verdict logic sourced from ACOG, FDA, and NIH LactMed.

Traditional runner games only need one player and no real rivalry to raise the stakes. RivalRuns turns it adversarial: one player dodges via full-body tracking while a rival places obstacles using hand gestures.
Built the pose and gesture-tracking pipeline with MediaPipe to enable controller-free, real-time gameplay.
